A friend of mine gave me a whole bag of magnolia flowers from her beautiful yard to eco print. Unfortunately, being my forgetful self, I left them in the bag too long. I’ve been wanting to make paper, so I thought, why not magnolia flower paper?
First I boiled the flowers with baking soda and then put them in the blender. I put this mix in my water tray. When I scooped it out on the screen it was too thin.
Hm, I needed to add something else to it. I had some watercolors that I wasn’t pleased with so I tore these up and boiled them with soda ash. ( I really don’t know what I am doing). This seemed to help break them down. I added this to the mix along with some 100% cotton paper I had made from an old bed sheet. I am pleased with the results even if I could have broken down the watercolors a little more as they made it a little lumpy.
Here is a picture of my results.

I can’t wait to try some other fibers. 😀
